
Thats right, I said $43,762,500. Mr. Warhol produced his painting in the early 1960s and sold it to Robert Scull, the taxi cab company tycoon and art collector. It was probably not any where near the million dollar mark at that time.
So here we are some 40 years later and that painting is in the millions. People have collected paintings from the beginning of time. Some make it into that rarified air of compounding whatever money was originally paid for it.
